Objectives
As a ministry of CCOB, and as a member of the Association of
Spiritual Objectives
- Understand and commit to a personal and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Develop a love for the Word of God, and a passion to know, understand, and apply God’s Word to their daily lives.
- Understand the privilege, purpose, and necessity of prayer in all matters.
- Seek the Holy Spirit’s power upon their lives as evidenced by His gifts and His fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
- Be sensitive to God’s call upon their lives.
- Desire to carry out what Jesus called the greatest of the commandments, to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength… [and to] love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:30-31).
Academic Objectives
- Be well prepared in all academic disciplines, according to their God-given potential, including….
o Mastery of the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
o Proficiency in mathematics and laboratory-based sciences.
o Appreciation of literature and the arts, and an understanding of how they both shape and reflect beliefs and values.
o Understanding of biblical principles in our nation’s history & heritage.
o Awareness of other religions, cultures, nations, events, and movements both today and in history
o Critical appreciation of languages, cultures, and worldviews that dispels prejudice and encourages biblical hospitality.
o Proficiency in a foreign language
o Skill at utilizing technological resources to locate, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information.
o Ability and willingness to effectively ask questions, solve problems, make wise decisions, and demonstrate higher-order reasoning.
o Commitment to life-long learning.
o Ability and willingness to defend the Christian faith and a biblical worldview (including biblical creationism).
Social Objectives
- Acknowledge the worth of every human being as created in the image of God.
- Be actively involved in a church fellowship, serving God and others.
- Understand, value, and engage in appropriate community and civic activities.
- Respond to conflict and crisis in a God-honoring manner.
- Relate to others with integrity, confidence, and respect. Attain an appreciation for the natural environment and practice responsible stewardship of God's creation.
- Practice the principles of biblical relationships in family living.
- Be good stewards of their talents, time, finances, and other resources.
- Develop a work ethic that is honorable to God.
- Develop a heart for missions, and personally respond in carrying out the “Great Commission” locally and around the world in a culturally sensitive manner.
Physical Objectives
- Respect their bodies as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
- Understand the value of health, exercise, and teamwork in athletics.
